OUR SCHOOL

ST Monica Kagumo Girls

The school is well prepared to admit the senior secondary students I.e. Grade 10. The school has a broad curriculum whereby the senior school students will enroll in the following pathways and subject combinations:

STEM:  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

  • Science: Deals with the study of the natural world, including biology, chemistry, physics, and more.
  • Technology: Involves the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, including the design and development of tools, machines, and systems.
  • Engineering: Focuses on the design, construction, and use of machines, structures, and systems.
  • Mathematics: Encompasses the foundational tools and principles for understanding and modeling the world around us.

The pathway encourages students to develop critical thinking, analytical, and skills through discussions, projects, and activities.

Social sciences:

Subjects within the Social Sciences Pathway:

  • History and Citizenship:Deals with the past and its impact on the present, including civic engagement.
  • Geography:Study of the Earth's physical and human systems.
  • Business Studies:Focuses on economic principles, entrepreneurship, and business operations.
  • Religious Studies:Includes subjects like Christian Religious Education (CRE), Islamic Religious Education (IRE), and Hindu Religious Education.
  • Languages:English, Kiswahili, indigenous and foreign languages are also part of the pathway.

The pathway aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to analyze social issues, understand human behavior, and engage with societal challenges. While governments encourage students to consider STEM, the Social Sciences pathway is a valid and valuable option, especially for those with strong interests in social spaces. Social sciences compliments other pathways.

We have adequate professional Human Resource i.e. TSC registered teachers, support staff, supportive Parents Association (PA), committed, skilled Board of Management and facilities therefore the implementation of the Competency Based Education (CBE) will not be a challenge.
